Das macht ihn für viele Alltagsnutzer zum naheliegendsten Einstieg in die KI: kein fremdes Unternehmen, keine neue App, kein neuer Account – einfach das Google-Konto nutzen, das du schon hast.
Was macht Gemini besonders? Er hat direkten Zugang zum Internet und kann damit aktuelle Informationen liefern – etwas, das ChatGPT und Claude in der kostenlosen Grundversion nicht können. Außerdem versteht er Bilder, PDFs und Spracheingaben. Das macht ihn vielseitiger im Alltag als manch andere KI.
Account erstellen – noch einfacher als sonst
Öffne deinen Browser und geh auf gemini.google.com. Falls du bereits ein Google-Konto hast, klick auf „Anmelden", wähle dein Konto aus – fertig. Kein Formular, keine Einstellungen, keine Wartezeit. Du bist in unter einer Minute drin.
Kein Google-Konto? Kein Problem. Auf derselben Seite kannst du eines kostenlos erstellen: Vorname, Nachname, eine E-Mail-Adresse auswählen, Passwort setzen – das dauert unter zwei Minuten.

- Gemini in der Google-Suche: Wenn du bei google.com etwas suchst, siehst du oben oft eine KI-Zusammenfassung von Gemini. Das ist dieselbe Technologie – nur direkt in die Suche eingebettet.

3 Tipps für bessere Antworten mit Gemini
Gemini funktioniert am besten, wenn du diese drei Dinge beachtest:
- Kontext geben: Statt „Schreib einen Instagram-Post" schreib: „Schreib einen kurzen Instagram-Post für mein Café in Wien, locker und einladend, mit einem Emoji." Je spezifischer deine Anfrage, desto besser die Antwort.
- Bilder hochladen: Du kannst Fotos direkt in den Chat laden. Gemini erkennt Objekte, liest Texte in Bildern und beschreibt, was zu sehen ist. Praktisch für Rezepte aus Kochbuchfotos, Preise aus Screenshots oder unbekannte Pflanzen im Garten.
- Aktuelle Infos nutzen: Gemini hat Internetzugang. Wenn du aktuelle Informationen brauchst – Öffnungszeiten, Wetter, aktuelle Nachrichten – frag einfach direkt. Gemini sucht für dich und fasst die Ergebnisse zusammen.

There's also an app for iOS and Android in the App Store. The app supports voice input and the camera – you can simply speak or take a photo and ask Gemini about it directly. Especially handy on the go.
Understanding the interface
The Gemini interface is deliberately simple. On the left is your conversation history – all past chats at a glance. In the centre is the large input field where you type your question. Top right shows which model is currently active.
Three things are especially useful to know:
- Gemini Live: With the microphone enabled, you can speak directly to Gemini – no typing needed. Ideal when you're on the move or just want a quick hands-free answer.
- Connect Google apps: Under "Extensions" you can link Gemini to Gmail, Google Drive and Google Calendar. Gemini can then summarise your emails, search your files or help plan appointments – all from within a single chat.
- Gemini in Google Search: When you search on google.com, you'll often see an AI summary from Gemini at the top. Same technology – embedded directly in search.
Starting your first chat
Click in the input field and write whatever's on your mind. No special command needed, no setup – just write naturally, the way you'd explain something to a person.
A good first test: Explain the difference between a latte and a cappuccino – in three sentences. Hit send and see what happens. That's the difference from Google: you get a direct, understandable answer rather than a list of links.

3 tips for better answers with Gemini
Gemini works best when you keep these three things in mind:
- Give context: Instead of "Write an Instagram post", try: "Write a short Instagram post for my café in Vienna, casual and inviting, with one emoji." The more specific, the better the answer.
- Upload images: You can drag photos directly into the chat. Gemini recognises objects, reads text in images and describes what it sees. Handy for recipe photos, price screenshots or unknown plants in the garden.
- Use current information: Gemini has internet access. If you need up-to-date details – opening hours, weather, current news – just ask directly. Gemini searches for you and summarises the results.
